Sugar Ray & Frankie

Sugar Ray & Frankie

Frankie and Sugar Ray are looking for a loving forever home where they can stay together.

These two came into care from a heartbreaking situation. They were suffering from upper respiratory infections and ringworm. In just a couple of months, they have come an incredibly long way. Good nutrition, proper veterinary care, and lots of love have helped them transform into the healthy, happy cats they are today.

Frankie is an absolute gem. She can be nervous with new people and unfamiliar situations, but once she settles in, she becomes an affectionate cuddle bug who loves curling up in your arms and sleeping beside you. Frankie has been through so much. Although she is still very young herself, we learned that she had already given birth to two litters. All her kittens died except Sugar Ray. Frankie is so loving and sweet, but when she moves to her new home, she will take a bit to settle in, so we are looking for someone with the patience to give her a week or so to relax.

When Frankie was rescued, the property owners didn't even realize Sugar Ray was still alive. He was discovered under a shed five days later. We have no idea how he survived, especially considering he was already sick and the weather was cold.

Frankie plays with Sugar Ray more like a sibling than a mother, and the bond they share is very strong. These two are deeply attached to one another and cannot be separated.

Frankie is spayed and has received two sets of vaccines, and a microchip. Sugar Ray receives his booster vaccines this Thursday and will be available for adoption shortly afterward. His adoption fee includes his neuter surgery and microchip, which will be performed by our veterinarian when he reaches approximately five months of age.

Both Frankie and Sugar Ray are intelligent, active cats who will thrive in a home that offers plenty of space, enrichment, and opportunities for play. Sugar Ray is one of the smartest kittens we've had in our care and will need mental stimulation to keep him happy and engaged.

They would do best in an adult only home or a home with older kids/teens, as they have had no exposure to young kids and we don't believe Frankie would enjoy a busy or noisy environment.

A little update on mama cat Frankie and her son, Sugar Ray!

They’re both doing really well, but aren’t quite ready for adoption just yet. Sugar Ray gave us a bit of a scare with a raspy, gurgling sound in his chest that worsened while he was on antibiotics. Chest X-rays thankfully showed nothing too serious, and with a new antibiotic on board, he’s finally starting to turn a corner.

Frankie has made remarkable progress with her confidence. She started off mostly hiding, and now she's become a really great snuggler! She’s come a long way. It’s been really special to watch the two of them play together. Single kittens can sometimes miss out on important social skills, but since Frankie is still quite young herself, these two behave more like siblings than mom and baby.

We’re not sure exactly when they’ll be ready for adoption. They still have a few health hurdles to clear, and Frankie is scheduled for her spay on May 7, so we’re hopeful it won’t be long after that. When they are ready, we’ll be looking for a home where they can stay together.

We’ve also learned that Frankie had a previous litter that sadly didn’t survive, making Sugar Ray her only surviving kitten. He’s a tough little guy who is just bursting with personality and spirit.

They’ll be posted once they’re available

If you would like to help support the costs of their care - we are happy for any donations of food, litter or toys!

They are currently eating Acana Kitten Canned Chicken & Tuna, Acana First Feast and they are using the Catit Pea Husk Litter which is safe for kittens, and dust free which will be helpful for their kitty colds.
